Causes of incomplete intestinal obstruction

Causes of incomplete intestinal obstruction

The main causes of incomplete intestinal obstruction include intestinal inflammation, tumors, intestinal adhesions, etc. Treatments include drug therapy, surgical intervention and dietary adjustments.

1. Intestinal inflammation is one of the common causes, such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, which may cause the intestinal wall to thicken or narrow, hindering the passage of food. Anti-inflammatory drugs such as mesalazine and glucocorticoids can be used for treatment. In severe cases, surgery is required to remove the diseased intestinal segment.

2. Tumor growth may compress or block the intestine, leading to incomplete intestinal obstruction. Benign tumors such as polyps can be removed endoscopically, while malignant tumors such as colon cancer require surgical removal and combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

3. Intestinal adhesions are often caused by abdominal surgery or infection, which may lead to intestinal twisting or stenosis. Mild adhesions can be loosened by laparoscopic surgery, while severe adhesions require laparotomy.

4. Diet adjustment plays an important role in relieving symptoms. It is recommended to choose low-fiber, easily digestible foods such as rice porridge and steamed eggs, and avoid high-fiber foods such as whole grains and nuts. Eat small meals frequently and avoid overeating.

5. Exercise helps promote intestinal peristalsis and improve obstruction symptoms. It is recommended to do light activities such as walking and yoga, and avoid strenuous exercise.

Incomplete intestinal obstruction requires targeted treatment based on the specific cause, and early diagnosis and intervention are key. If you experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and difficulty defecating, you should seek medical attention in a timely manner to avoid worsening of the condition.
