Is rheumatoid arthritis caused by dampness?

Rheumatoid arthritis has little to do with dampness. It is an autoimmune disease that requires comprehensive treatment. Rheumatoid arthritis, as the name suggests, is a disease characterized by joint pain, swelling and stiffness. Its pathogenesis is relatively complex and is mainly related to genetic factors, immune system abnormalities and certain environmental factors. In medicine, there is no conclusive evidence to support a direct relationship between rheumatoid arthritis and the so-called "body dampness".

Many people often associate joint pain, mobility problems and "dampness", which is actually more due to a misunderstanding of traditional Chinese medicine theory. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, dampness can indeed cause joint discomfort, but this is not the same as rheumatoid arthritis as defined by modern medicine. Rheumatoid arthritis is characterized by recurrent joint swelling and pain and limited mobility, which may affect multiple joints. Some patients also have symptoms such as fever and fatigue.

For patients with rheumatoid arthritis, reasonable treatment and management are very important. It is recommended to maintain a reasonable diet and avoid high-fat and high-sugar foods; you can do moderate physical exercise, such as walking, swimming or yoga, to help enhance the flexibility of the body and the mobility of the joints. If necessary, you can consult a rheumatologist to decide on a drug treatment plan based on your personal condition. At the same time, if there are severe symptoms or disease progression, you should seek medical attention immediately for professional diagnosis and treatment and long-term management.
