How to treat intestinal obstruction in 3-year-old children

Children under 3 years old who have symptoms of intestinal obstruction need to see a doctor immediately because this condition can be life-threatening and requires professional medical intervention.

Intestinal obstruction refers to the inability of intestinal contents to pass normally, which may be caused by intussusception, congenital intestinal malformation, fecal blockage, etc. Parents should pay close attention when their children have persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, cessation of defecation or flatulence, etc. This condition is more common in children, especially younger children, whose bodies are not yet fully developed and some structures are more prone to problems.

In the hospital, the doctor will confirm the specific cause through physical examination, abdominal X-ray, color Doppler ultrasound and other methods. If it is a mild functional intestinal obstruction, conservative treatment may be carried out by adjusting diet, rehydration and so on. However, if it is a mechanical intestinal obstruction, surgical intervention may be required, such as air enema resetting or surgical operation for intussusception. These treatments can quickly relieve the problem and avoid serious complications.

Parents should pay attention to their children's eating habits and avoid overeating, especially foods that are too fiber-rich or too hard. In addition, parents should prevent small objects from being swallowed by mistake to reduce the risk of intestinal obstruction. If a child has the above symptoms, he or she should be taken to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately to avoid delaying the disease.
