Buying one massage chair: landed cost and delivery clearance

Compare single-chair and dropship quotes, measure the packed delivery route, and document freight damage from the moment it arrives.

Updated

Compare the same chair and delivery point

Ask each seller for the model and configuration, quantity one, dispatch location and destination postcode. State whether the address is residential and whether it has a loading dock. Get a written breakdown of the chair, freight, insurance if chosen, customs brokerage, duties, taxes and any charges for the final delivery service. Confirm which amounts are estimates and which are included in the price.

Name the trade term and the delivery service

For cross-border business orders, write the agreed rule, the exact destination and the Incoterms® edition on the quote. Under DAP the buyer handles import clearance. Under DDP the seller handles it and pays applicable import duties and taxes. Specify unloading, delivery into the room, assembly and packaging removal separately, with a price for each. Measure the route using carton dimensions

Get the number of cartons, the outer dimensions and gross weight of each, and the manufacturer’s permitted handling orientations. Measure the clear opening at doors, lifts and stair landings. Include door hardware and tight turns. Compare the largest carton with the whole route. If the plan involves unpacking outside, obtain the unboxed dimensions and confirm the crew can do this.

Confirm the schedule and access before paying

Separate dispatch lead time from transit and the appointment window. Ask who calls the recipient and what happens if a truck cannot reach the property. Request prices for a liftgate if there is no dock, redelivery if nobody can receive the chair, and a return from the same address. For dropshipping, agree who sends tracking and who responds to the customer.

Inspect the shipment on arrival

Count the cartons and photograph the shipping labels, packaging and any tears or crushed corners. Record visible damage on the delivery receipt in line with the carrier’s instructions. Keep the packaging and send the seller the photos, tracking number and receipt. Confirm who submits a claim and the reporting deadline for both visible and concealed damage. UPS cargo claims
