How to treat breast cysts

How to treat breast cysts

Breast cysts require appropriate treatment based on the specific situation, and medical attention should be sought as soon as possible if the condition is severe or recurring.

Breast cysts are cystic masses caused by blocked milk ducts, which are more common in lactating women, especially when milk cannot be discharged in time. It can cause breast swelling, tenderness, and even lumps, causing discomfort to breastfeeding and daily life.

If the cyst is small and there is no obvious discomfort, some simple methods can be used to relieve it. For example, hot compress is a common method that can promote local blood circulation and help discharge secretions. Breast massage is also a good choice, but the movement should be gentle, and the lump should be slowly pushed towards the nipple like drawing a circle. If the discomfort during breastfeeding worsens, try to increase the frequency of breastfeeding or use a breast pump to empty the milk to reduce the pressure caused by milk stagnation.

In daily care, you should ensure breast hygiene, clean the nipples with warm water after breastfeeding and keep them dry, and choose comfortable and loose underwear to avoid compressing the breasts. If the cysts do not subside after a period of attempts or symptoms such as redness, swelling, and fever appear, you should go to the hospital in time and ask the doctor to further examine and treat according to your situation. After all, early treatment can prevent breast cysts from deteriorating into mastitis or infectious problems.
