How to care for perianal abscess in infants

How to care for perianal abscess in infants

The care of infant perianal abscess needs to start from cleaning, diet, medication and other aspects to ensure the safety and comfort of the infant. During the care process, it is very important to keep the perianal area clean and dry. At the same time, the diet should be adjusted reasonably to promote normal intestinal function. If necessary, antibiotics should be used under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Cleaning and hygiene management

Keeping the anus clean is the first priority of care. After each diaper change, gently clean the baby's anus with warm water, and then pat dry with a clean soft towel to avoid excessive wiping that may cause skin damage. At the same time, ensure that the diaper or diaper is breathable to reduce the impact of a humid environment on abscesses.

2. Diet adjustment

Infants with perianal abscesses may be associated with constipation or diarrhea, so dietary adjustments are helpful for care. For breastfed babies, the intestinal function of the baby can be improved by adjusting the mother's diet and increasing the intake of dietary fiber. For formula-fed babies, appropriate infant formula can be selected under the guidance of a doctor to promote normal digestive function.

3. Drugs and medical intervention

Under the guidance of a doctor, topical antibiotic ointments, such as fusidic acid cream, may be needed for more severe or prolonged perianal abscesses; oral antibiotics, such as amoxicillin, may be needed for combined infections or severe symptoms; in cases where the abscess is difficult to heal on its own, the doctor may consider abscess incision and drainage surgery.

During the entire nursing period, parents should observe the baby's symptom changes. If fever or abscess expansion occurs, they should seek medical attention immediately. Through the application of comprehensive nursing measures, the comfort and recovery of the baby can be ensured to achieve the best results. Pay attention to the baby's health, provide professional medical treatment and home care in a timely manner, and try to detect and treat the baby's perianal abscess as early as possible to ensure a smooth recovery process.
