Early symptoms of vasculitis in children

Early symptoms of vasculitis in children

Early symptoms of vasculitis in children may include erythema or petechiae on the skin, recurrent fever of unknown cause, fatigue, joint pain, etc. If similar symptoms occur, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible for a clear diagnosis.

Vasculitis is a type of disease caused by inflammation of the blood vessel wall, which can lead to insufficient blood supply to organs and tissues. The cause of vasculitis in children may be related to infection, genes, and immune system abnormalities, but the specific mechanism is not fully understood. Some common types such as Kawasaki disease and Henoch-Schönlein purpura are more common in children.

Among the early symptoms, skin lesions are easier to spot, such as red spots or pinpoint petechiae, which may not hurt or itch and are easy to ignore. Some children will have a persistent low-grade fever, accompanied by fatigue or lack of energy. If the joints are affected, there may also be swelling or pain. In severe cases, it may even affect the internal organs, such as the kidneys, causing blood in the urine or high blood pressure, while heart involvement may cause chest tightness or rapid heartbeat.

It is important to pay attention to the health status of children in a timely manner. If suspected symptoms occur, do not delay and take your child to a regular medical institution for examination as soon as possible. Provide your child with balanced nutrition and strengthen exercise to improve immunity, while avoiding infection.
