Causes of urinary tract infection in girls

Causes of urinary tract infection in girls

Girls are more susceptible to urinary tract infections mainly due to differences in anatomical structure, poor urination hygiene and low immunity. Finding the specific cause can help effectively prevent and control the infection.

Genetic factors have little impact on urinary tract infections, but some babies with urination dysfunction may be related to family genes. Among environmental factors, wearing non-breathable diapers, not changing diapers in time, or sitting in places with poor sanitation can easily cause bacterial infections. Physiologically, the urethra of female babies is short and close to the anus, which can easily lead to intestinal bacteria such as Escherichia coli retrograde infection of the urethra. The baby's immune system is not fully developed when he is young, which also increases the possibility of infection. Among pathological causes, if the baby suffers from congenital structural abnormalities such as vesicoureteral reflux and urethral stenosis, it may also increase the occurrence of urinary tract infections.

To prevent urinary tract infection in baby girls, parents should keep the baby's perineum clean and wipe it from front to back with warm water every time to prevent the spread of bacteria. Try to choose diapers with good breathability and strong water absorption, and change them frequently. It is also important to cultivate the baby's hygiene habits, such as urinating in time and not holding urine. If a urinary tract infection has occurred, you need to see a doctor in time. Common treatments include antibiotic treatment for infection (such as penicillins and cephalosporins), auxiliary therapies such as drinking more water to promote urination and orange juice to acidify urine, which can help relieve symptoms. For babies with repeated infections, it is necessary to check whether there are congenital urinary system abnormalities, and diagnose through imaging examinations such as color Doppler ultrasound or cystoscopy.

In daily care, try to avoid your baby sitting in a wet diaper for a long time or playing in a too wet place, and develop a regular urination habit. If you find that your baby often has symptoms such as frequent urination, urinary pain or fever, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Do not ignore early signs. Timely treatment can effectively prevent the condition from worsening.
