Urinary stones and bleeding in urine

The core reason why urinary stones cause bleeding in urine is that the stones rub against the urinary tract mucosa when passing through the urinary system, causing blood vessels to rupture and bleed. This situation may be accompanied by severe pain, and measures must be taken as soon as possible to relieve the symptoms and choose appropriate treatment methods according to the condition.

Urinary bleeding caused by urinary stones usually manifests as pink, red or dark red urine, and is often accompanied by severe pain in the waist and abdomen (renal colic) or frequent and painful urination. The formation of stones is related to many reasons, such as genetic factors, insufficient drinking water, and a high-salt and high-protein diet. Genetic susceptibility may make some people more prone to stone formation. Insufficient drinking water will cause urine to concentrate, thereby increasing mineral deposition; while a high-salt diet will aggravate calcium excretion and increase the concentration of calcium ions in urine. If the amount of bleeding is large or the stones are large, it may cause urinary tract infection, obstruction or even renal damage, which requires great attention.

When bleeding occurs in the urine, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time, and the doctor will confirm the location and size of the stones through B-ultrasound, CT or urine analysis. Treatment methods include medication, surgery or other auxiliary methods. Oral medications such as aloxicin and tamsulosin can be used to relieve smooth muscle spasms and help stones to be discharged; surgical methods such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) are suitable for small and medium-sized stones; larger stones often require transurethral lithotripsy or laparoscopic surgical intervention. It is usually recommended to increase daily water intake to 2~3 liters, reduce the intake of high-calcium and high-salt foods, and appropriately consume fruits rich in citric acid such as lemons and oranges, which can help inhibit the formation of stones. If you relapse multiple times, you can consider regular check-ups and taking drugs that inhibit stone formation under the guidance of a doctor.
