What is bilateral breast cyst?

Bilateral breast cysts are usually non-cancerous lesions caused by breast hyperplasia. In most cases, they have little impact on health, but regular check-ups are required.

Breast cysts are sac-like accumulations of fluid within the breast glands, usually caused by cystic dilatation of the lobules and ducts. It can be affected by hormonal fluctuations, especially during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and breastfeeding, so women may experience slight changes in their breasts at different stages. It is not uncommon for breast cysts to be bilateral at the same time.

If the cyst is small, it generally does not cause obvious discomfort. However, if the cyst is large or slightly compresses the surrounding tissue, it may manifest as breast tenderness, the feeling of soft and hard nodules, and even increased tenderness before menstruation. However, these symptoms are not necessarily related to breast cancer, but if the cyst tends to grow rapidly, or nipple discharge or skin abnormalities are found, special attention should be paid and further examination should be conducted.

To maintain breast health, you need to pay attention to your daily routine, avoid excessive drinking, high-fat foods, and long-term emotional anxiety. Regular breast ultrasound examinations should be performed. If the cyst continues to grow or is accompanied by unexplained symptoms, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible to seek professional diagnosis and treatment.
