How long does it take to recover after the third stage of internal hemorrhoid surgery?

Hemorrhoid surgery is the fastest way to treat hemorrhoids, but after all, surgery is dangerous and if you are not careful, it will leave some sequelae. The recovery time after hemorrhoid surgery is about 2 weeks. You can do anal contraction exercises to promote the recovery of anal contraction function. It takes about 3-6 months for the scar to soften after anal surgery.

Complications of hemorrhoid surgery:

1. Postoperative bleeding: The anus is prone to bleeding. In some serious diseases, on the tenth day after major surgery, the thick blood vessels relax and sudden heavy bleeding occurs.

2. Anal sphincter incompleteness: Anal sphincter removal during anal fistula surgery, and even the anal lifting muscles are cut off together; or symptoms caused by circular resection of the sphincter.

3. Sequelae of hemorrhoid surgery and anal stenosis: Hemorrhoid surgery uses a knife to remove the affected part, so there will be a certain degree of scarring. But some patients' constitutions are prone to scarring and stenosis. Even with internal hemorrhoid ligation and excision of the mucosa, the anus is still narrow. Just like the entire round scar, it will become narrower after healing.

Postoperative attention:

1. Keep bowel movements smooth

It usually takes 24 hours after hemorrhoid surgery for the first bowel movement.

During the period when defecation is prohibited, you should drink more water and eat more laxative drinks such as honey, fruit juice, vegetable juice, etc. to promote urination and avoid constipation.

2. Take a sitz bath after defecation

You must sit down after each bowel movement. When taking a sitz bath, first use hot steam. When the water temperature is appropriate, put the anus and perineum into the basin to bathe for about 20 minutes each time.

3. Postoperative activities

Generally speaking, if the surgical wound is large and has not completely healed, you should try to walk less to avoid edema caused by friction and prolong the wound healing time.

The key also depends on the degree of wound healing and physical fitness. Patients with hemorrhoids should eat liquid or semi-liquid diet after surgery, keep bowel movements smooth, avoid eating spicy food or drinking. Pay attention to personal hygiene and keep the anus clean. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to fully recover.
