How do you get a breast cyst?

The formation of breast cysts is often related to hormone fluctuations in women, especially the imbalance of estrogen levels, which may be the main cause. Breast cysts are usually harmless benign lesions, but their changes need to be closely monitored.

The breast is a very sensitive part of the female body. Its structure is mainly composed of glands and adipose tissue, like a big tree with branches and fruits. The "fruit" of breast cysts is actually a cystic lesion formed by abnormal expansion of the mammary ducts and the accumulation of fluid inside. The main reason for this phenomenon is the fluctuation of hormones in the body, especially during specific periods such as the menstrual cycle, pregnancy or menopause, when the increase in estrogen levels in the body can stimulate breast tissue. This stimulation may cause breast hyperplasia and then form cysts. The habit of high-fat and low-fiber diet, excessive stress, and certain genetic factors may also increase the risk of breast cysts.

Breast cysts are usually round or oval in shape, soft in texture, and feel like a swollen "little balloon". Most breast cysts are small and painless, but if the cyst is large or close to the surface of the breast, you may experience breast pain or discomfort when touched. More importantly, most of these cysts will change with the menstrual cycle, such as becoming larger and more painful before menstruation, and gradually shrinking after menstruation.

For small, asymptomatic breast cysts, maintaining good living habits usually does not require special treatment, but health maintenance is very important. You can appropriately reduce the intake of hormone-containing foods, such as eating less processed foods with artificially added hormones; at the same time, adding fiber-rich vegetables, fruits and whole grains to your diet can help regulate hormone levels in the body. Perform regular breast self-examinations and touch your breasts at a fixed time every month to understand changes in the condition of your breasts. Avoiding excessive stress, developing a regular schedule, and exercising moderately can not only help control the development of breast cysts, but also be beneficial to your overall health. If you encounter a cyst that is rapidly enlarging, irregular, accompanied by severe pain, or lasts for a long time, you should contact a professional doctor for evaluation as soon as possible.
