Is breast cyst 4a serious?

Is breast cyst 4a serious?

Category 4A breast cysts indicate a low risk of malignancy, but do not necessarily mean it is cancer and further examination is needed to confirm.

The grading of breast cysts is usually assessed based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS). Category 4A means there is a slight possibility of malignancy, with a probability generally between 2% and 10%. Simply put, this belongs to the "doubtful" category, which is neither completely benign nor clearly malignant, and requires further clarification of its nature through pathological examination, common methods include fine needle aspiration cytology or tissue biopsy.

The reason why the cyst is classified as 4A may be related to certain abnormal features found in the imaging report, such as irregular cyst edges and uneven internal echoes. This may indicate atypical cell proliferation or other tissue changes inside, but these abnormalities may also be caused by benign lesions, such as breast fibroadenoma or proliferative lesions. Imaging diagnosis alone is not enough to draw the final conclusion and must be combined with other examination methods.

When diagnosed with a Class 4A breast cyst, you should pay attention to the following points: follow up your breast health regularly, cooperate with your doctor to complete necessary pathological examinations, and do not panic and try to find folk remedies or delay medical treatment. At the same time, you can moderately reduce high-fat and high-sugar foods in your diet and maintain regular exercise, which is helpful for breast health, but cannot replace professional medical examinations and treatments. If you have any doubts about the results, communicate with the professional medical team in a timely manner to obtain scientific guidance.
