Is acupuncture effective for breast cysts?

Acupuncture may have a certain auxiliary regulating effect on breast cysts, but it cannot directly eliminate cysts. Acupuncture is more about regulating the body's meridians and the flow of qi and blood to relieve the discomfort caused by cysts, such as distension and pain and mood swings.

Breast cysts are usually caused by factors such as breast lobular hyperplasia and hormone level fluctuations, among which abnormal stimulation of estrogen may be the core cause. These cysts appear as cystic structures in physical examinations or imaging examinations, and vary in size. Most of them are benign and only cause obvious discomfort when the cysts are large or inflamed.

In traditional Chinese medicine theory, acupuncture is believed to relieve breast cyst-related symptoms by stimulating specific acupoints, regulating liver depression, and improving the circulation of qi and blood. For example, commonly used acupoints include Taichong acupoint on the liver meridian and Tanzhong acupoint near the breast. However, it should be made clear that the role of acupuncture is mainly regulation, and it cannot completely replace medical diagnosis and treatment.

When facing breast cysts, you should pay attention to adjusting your work and rest schedule, avoid overwork and learn to reduce stress. Keeping a good mood can also help regulate hormone levels. At the same time, you can choose a light diet, eat more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins, and reduce the intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods. Regularly check your breasts. If the cysts are abnormally enlarged or accompanied by obvious pain, you should seek diagnosis and treatment from a doctor in a timely manner.
