How to prevent recurrence of perianal abscess

How to prevent recurrence of perianal abscess

The recurrence of perianal abscess can be effectively prevented through scientific care and healthy living habits. The occurrence of perianal abscess is closely related to factors such as anal gland infection and bacterial invasion, but the risk of recurrence can be greatly reduced by keeping the perianal area clean, eating a reasonable diet and taking timely care.

Perianal abscess refers to a suppurative disease caused by infection of the soft tissue around the anus. It usually manifests as redness, swelling and severe pain around the anus, sometimes accompanied by fever or discomfort during defecation. Once an abscess is formed, drainage is often required to relieve the symptoms. However, if the abscess is not properly cared for or the infection is not cured, it may lead to recurrence and even the formation of anal fistula.

Daily care is key to prevent perianal abscesses from recurring. It is important to keep the area around the anus clean. Wash the anus with warm water every day, especially after defecation, to prevent bacterial proliferation and infection. If the skin is sensitive, you can choose a weakly acidic or non-irritating detergent. Develop regular bowel habits and avoid squatting or chronic constipation, because hard stools may cause anal fissures and become an entry point for infection. Excessive force during bowel movements may damage perianal tissues and increase the risk of infection.

Dietary adjustment also plays an important role in prevention. High-fiber foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains can help improve intestinal motility, soften stools and reduce the risk of constipation. Avoid spicy, greasy and other irritating foods, which may cause intestinal discomfort and aggravate perianal irritation. At the same time, pay attention to water intake. Maintaining adequate water in the body can promote normal bowel movements and reduce intestinal burden.

Developing healthy habits is also important. Avoiding long periods of sitting and increasing physical activity can effectively improve blood circulation and reduce long-term pressure on the rectum and perianal area. If you need to sit for a long time due to work, you can stand up and move your body regularly. Pay attention to the material and tightness of your underwear. It is recommended to choose cotton underwear that is breathable, loose and comfortable to reduce friction and irritation to the perianal skin.

If you experience repeated redness and swelling around the anus or abnormal discharge, you should seek professional help as soon as possible and follow the doctor's advice. Do not delay or take medication on your own to avoid causing more serious problems. Through scientific care and adherence to healthy habits, you can effectively reduce the chance of recurrence and protect your health.
