Do menopausal breast cysts need treatment?

Do menopausal breast cysts need treatment?

Menopausal breast cysts generally do not require special treatment, but they need to be monitored and judged according to their nature to determine whether there are potential risks. Most breast cysts are benign and only require regular checkups.

Breast cysts are a common breast disease. Especially around menopause, due to fluctuations in estrogen levels, breast tissue is prone to hyperplasia or degeneration, forming fluid cysts of varying sizes. They are characterized by being soft to the touch and having clear boundaries, and usually do not cause obvious pain or other symptoms.

Breast cysts can be divided into simple cysts and complex cysts. Simple cysts contain clear liquid and are less likely to be malignant; complex cysts may be accompanied by some solid components and require further examination, such as ultrasound, mammography, or puncture biopsy, to rule out malignant lesions. If the cyst is too large and causes compression symptoms or pain, intervention may also be required.

In daily life, menopausal women can improve breast health by adjusting their diet, reducing stress, and exercising appropriately. For example, they can eat more fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, reduce the intake of high-fat, high-calorie foods, avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, and maintain good work and rest habits to help balance endocrine. If a breast cyst continues to grow, is accompanied by obvious pain, or is suspected to be malignant, you should consult a doctor for evaluation in a timely manner.
