Do breast cysts need to be removed?

Breast cysts do not necessarily have to be removed. Most breast cysts are benign and do not require surgery. Doctors may only recommend removal if there is persistent discomfort, rapid enlargement, suspected malignancy, or impact on quality of life.

Breast cysts are mostly caused by hormone fluctuations in the body and appear as fluid cystic masses in the breast. Their size and shape may change with the menstrual cycle. In most cases, they are painless or only cause mild discomfort. Ultrasound examination can usually confirm the diagnosis. In terms of treatment, conservative management is usually adopted, such as regular observation, diet adjustment and oral hormone balancing drugs. If the cyst is large and causes obvious pain or other symptoms, cyst puncture and fluid extraction can be used to relieve symptoms. If the lesion is suspected to be malignant or recurrent, the doctor may recommend surgical removal, which includes breast cystectomy, small incision minimally invasive surgery and laser-assisted removal.

You should maintain a regular schedule, avoid staying up late and sitting for long periods of time, and do moderate exercise to strengthen your physical fitness. Reduce the intake of greasy and high-sugar foods, and increase the intake of vegetables and fruits rich in dietary fiber and vitamin E, such as spinach and spirulina. If you experience frequent breast pain or obvious lumps, you should see a doctor as soon as possible, and strictly follow the doctor's instructions for follow-up to ensure your health.
