Can breast cysts turn into cancer?

Breast cysts and hyperplasia are benign lesions in most cases, but if they are not observed and managed for a long time, some types may have the risk of becoming cancerous.

Breast cysts are generally small vesicles formed by fluid accumulation in the breast ducts, while hyperplasia is an abnormal increase in breast tissue, which often occurs when the female hormone cycle fluctuates greatly. These two conditions are common in women of childbearing age and are affected by hormone levels, genetic factors and lifestyle habits. Under normal circumstances, breast cysts and hyperplasia do not pose a serious threat to the body.

However, it should be noted that there are certain high-risk types of breast hyperplasia, such as atypical hyperplasia, which may increase the probability of cancer. Simple breast cysts are usually not directly related to cancer, but when the transparent cystic fluid turns into bloody liquid, it should be taken seriously. Regular ultrasound examinations and breast mammography are important means of judging risks. When cysts or hyperplasia are accompanied by obvious breast pain, irregular shapes, or continuous enlargement and changes in a short period of time, further investigation is required.

Be sure to maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce hormone interference, such as controlling weight, avoiding high-fat diets, and exercising regularly. Learn to observe your own breast health and perform self-examinations at appropriate times. Once abnormal symptoms are found, go to a breast specialist clinic in time to receive professional evaluation and advice from a doctor.
