Recipes for treating gallstones

Folk remedies for the treatment of gallstones cannot replace medical treatment. You should consult a doctor before using them to avoid delaying the disease or causing adverse consequences. If gallstones cause obvious symptoms, such as persistent abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, or yellowing of the skin, you should go to the hospital for formal diagnosis and treatment in time.

The causes of gallstone formation are mostly related to an imbalance in bile composition, including abnormal cholesterol metabolism, family genetic tendencies, and bad eating habits, such as a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet. Some folk remedies are popular among the people, but there is limited scientific evidence. For example, the combination of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice is said to help soften gallstones; drinking olive oil and grapefruit juice together is also believed to promote bile secretion and stone excretion; Chinese herbal medicines such as dandelion or money grass are often used to soothe the liver and promote bile secretion. However, these methods are not suitable for everyone, and some may cause other health risks. If the gallstones are large or block the bile duct, the above methods will not solve the actual problem, but may delay the best time for intervention.

In terms of dietary adjustments, avoid high-fat, high-calorie and fried foods, and eat more fiber-rich fruits, vegetables and whole grains, which can help improve cholesterol metabolism and reduce the risk of recurrence of gallstones. You should also develop the habit of regular exercise, maintain a healthy weight, and prevent obesity and metabolic abnormalities. If you have been diagnosed with gallstones but the symptoms are not serious, you can use drugs such as ursodeoxycholic acid to dissolve small gallstones under the guidance of a doctor. If necessary, you need to undergo cholecystectomy to avoid complications. Folk remedies can only be used as auxiliary methods. Do not blindly rely on or use them on your own.
