Anal pruritus caused by hemorrhoids

Anal pruritus caused by hemorrhoids

Anal itching caused by hemorrhoids is usually due to local secretion irritation, inflammatory response or damaged skin barrier. Timely relief of symptoms and radical treatment of hemorrhoids can effectively improve the itching problem.

Anal pruritus caused by hemorrhoids is mostly related to ruptured bleeding of internal and external hemorrhoids, leakage of secretions or swelling irritation, which increases the moisture and friction of the local skin, and then causes itching. This itching usually manifests as intermittent or persistent, especially after defecation or sitting for a long time. If this irritation is long-term, it may cause damage to the skin after scratching, and even cause infection. Sometimes, the prolapse or ulceration of the tumor accompanying hemorrhoids may also directly aggravate the itching. When some patients have eczema around the anus, the symptoms will be more obvious.

Relief methods include keeping the perianal area clean, adjusting the diet, and actively treating hemorrhoids. The anus can be cleaned with warm water every day, and irritating detergents should be avoided. Eat more dietary fiber, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, to prevent constipation. For those with severe local itching, anti-inflammatory and antipruritic ointments, such as desonide cream, can be used for a short period of time. Fundamental treatments for hemorrhoids include medication, physical therapy, and surgery. For example, you can try hemorrhoid suppositories (such as Taining suppositories), sclerotherapy injections, vertebral treatment for patients with low and moderate hemorrhoids, or surgical hemorrhoidectomy in severe cases. Regardless of the treatment method, it is recommended to be performed under the guidance of a doctor to avoid aggravating symptoms or causing complications.

When itching symptoms are accompanied by obvious pain, bleeding or prolapse of the swelling, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible to determine the type and severity of hemorrhoids so as to develop a targeted treatment plan. During the recovery period, avoid excessive fatigue, long periods of sitting and spicy food to better promote recovery.
