What to do with rheumatoid arthritis in fingers?

Rheumatoid arthritis is a disabling autoimmune disease characterized by chronic, symmetrical, multi-joint lesions that involve all body systems. It mainly manifests itself in symmetrical arthritis of the wrists, toes, fingers and other parts. Rheumatoid arthritis patients also have symptoms such as stiff hands and feet in the morning and inflexibility.

Rheumatoid arthritis of fingers seriously affects the patient's normal life and needs active treatment. The treatment methods are as follows:

First: For patients whose initial symptoms are not obvious, physical therapy can be performed, such as local hot compress, massage, moxibustion, etc. After the symptoms are relieved, appropriate joint muscle function exercises can be performed to promote local blood circulation and prevent joint stiffness and deformity.

Second: drug treatment. Generally, drugs are divided into three line drugs. First-line drugs are mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can be combined with hormones to achieve anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects; second-line drugs include antimalarial drugs and some immune preparations; the third line drugs are simple hormone drugs.

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis of fingers should also pay attention to lifestyle conditioning during treatment:

1. Treat this disease with a positive and optimistic attitude.

2 Appropriate exercise: Acute rest is generally about three weeks, and chronic exercise should be used to strengthen joint function, maintain and enhance the mobility of diseased joints, prevent deformity and straighten them, and exercise appropriately to maintain comfort. It is recognized that the disease is a long-term chronic process that requires cooperation between doctors and patients and persistent treatment.

3 Diet therapy: There are two main methods, one is supplementary therapy and the other is cancellation therapy. The so-called supplementary therapy is to supplement the food that is lacking in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis or is conducive to alleviating the disease; the so-called cancellation therapy is to remove the food that the patients cannot tolerate in their diet.

4 Patients should pay attention to keeping their hands warm, windproof and moisture-proof. They should also pay attention to maintaining the normal functional posture of each joint to avoid ankylosis and deformity.

5. Go to the hospital for regular check-ups.
