Can I apply burn ointment on a burn?

Burn ointment can be applied after a burn, but the appropriate treatment method should be selected according to the severity of the burn. Burn ointment has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and healing effects, and is suitable for mild burns; for severe burns, medical treatment is required immediately. The wound must be cleaned before use, and the wound must be kept dry after application to avoid infection.

1. Mild burns First-degree burns: manifested as redness, swelling, pain, and no blisters. Rinse the injured area with cold water for 10-15 minutes to lower the skin temperature and relieve pain. Apply burn ointment such as Jingwanhong Ointment or Moist Burn Ointment 2-3 times a day to promote skin repair. Avoid using toothpaste, soy sauce, and other folk remedies to avoid increasing the risk of infection.

2. Moderate burns and second-degree burns: Blisters appear on the skin and the pain is obvious. If the blisters are small and intact, the blister fluid can be extracted with a sterile syringe, and the blister skin can be retained to protect the wound surface, and then burn ointment can be applied. If the blisters are large or ruptured, they need to be covered with sterile gauze to avoid infection and seek medical attention in time.

3. Severe burns Third degree burns: The skin is burnt black or pale, and the pain is reduced or disappears. This type of burn involves deep tissues, so the wound must be covered with clean gauze immediately to avoid contamination, and the patient must be sent to the hospital as soon as possible. Do not apply medication on your own to avoid delaying treatment.

4. Daily care after burns: Keep the wound clean and dry, avoid friction or squeezing. Eat more foods rich in protein and vitamins, such as eggs, milk, and fresh vegetables to promote wound healing. Avoid spicy and irritating foods to avoid affecting recovery.

It is very important to properly handle burns. For mild burns, you can use burn ointment on your own, and for moderate to severe burns, you need to seek medical attention in time. Regardless of the severity of the burn, you should avoid using folk remedies or improper treatment to avoid aggravating the injury or causing infection.
