What is the cause of dissecting aneurysm?

Patients with dissecting aneurysms often suffer from physical and mental torture, but most patients overcome the disease with the cooperation of doctors. So what is a dissecting aneurysm? What is the cause?

Dissecting aneurysm, also known as aortic dissection hematoma, is not really a tumor, but just protrudes outward like a tumor. The aortic intima is damaged and becomes thin and weak. On this basis, the high-speed and high-pressure blood flow tears a crack in the thin intima and the middle membrane, causing the middle membrane to separate and form a gap. Arterial blood flows into the gap and causes the gap to expand and swell, thus expanding into a "dissecting aneurysm" in the "dissection" of the arterial wall.

The so-called dissecting aneurysm is caused by various pathological factors that damage the aortic intima and media and make them weak. On this basis, the high-speed and high-pressure blood flow tears a crack in the weak intima and media, causing the media to separate and form a gap. High-speed and high-pressure arterial blood rushes into it and continuously impacts downward, causing the inner media and outer membrane to further peel off. The gap continues to expand and swell, and expands along the aortic wall to the distal and proximal ends, especially the distal end, which can affect the thoracic aorta and even the entire aorta, as well as many branch arteries. If the original aortic lumen is called the true lumen, the gap formed by the separation of the media is the false lumen, and the inner media of the aortic wall between the true and false lumens is called "dissection".

Because the false lumen is "tumor-like" and bulging, the disease is named "dissecting aneurysm". Although it has the title of "tumor", it is actually very different from what we usually call "tumor". Tumors are abnormal proliferation of cells, often malignant, such as cancer; while dissecting aneurysm is caused by abnormal expansion of arteries. It is neither a malignant tumor nor a benign tumor, but its rupture and lethality are greater than any tumor.

Dissecting aneurysm is common among middle-aged and elderly people. Although it is not a terminal illness, the damage it causes cannot be underestimated. Only early treatment can completely defeat the disease and achieve a speedy recovery.
