What should the elderly do if they suffer from lumbar muscle strain?

There will be radiating pain in the lower limbs, which will also occur after lumbar muscle strain. Many patients will have such symptoms, usually after the lumbago is relieved or disappears. In severe cases, there will be severe pain and numbness from the waist to the feet like electric shock. Lumbar muscle strain will also cause numbness in the lower limbs. Generally, patients will consciously feel that the lower limbs are cold. This situation is due to the stimulation of the sympathetic nerve fibers of the spinal canal. Women with lumbar muscle strain may also experience urinary incontinence, and men may also experience sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence.

Lumbar muscle exercise health care methods:

1. Supine health care method: The patient should lie on his back. Their feet, elbows and head should be supported on the bed at five o'clock. They should lift their waist, back, buttocks and lower limbs and leave the bed slightly. When they feel tired, they should return to a calm supine position to rest. According to this method, exercise repeatedly for about 10 minutes every morning and evening.

2. Prone health care method: The patient lies prone, puts the upper limbs on the back, and then lifts the head, chest, and legs off the bed, making the body arched until slight fatigue is felt. According to this method, exercise repeatedly for about 10 minutes every morning and evening.

3. Waist and back massage health care method: The patient adopts a sitting position, first clench the empty fist with the left hand, and tap the left waist from top to bottom. Gently tap for 10 minutes, and then massage or rub with the left palm for about 5 minutes, twice a day. Then use the right and left hands to do exercises.

4. Hot compress or physical therapy: You can use a hot water bottle or heat therapy to apply hot compress to the painful area every night, or you can use 1.5 kg of bran. After frying it in an iron pan, add 0.25 kg of vinegar, stir evenly, put it in a homemade cloth bag, and then put it on the painful area, cover it with a quilt to keep warm and apply hot compress. Far-infrared thermal therapy device or Zhoulin spectrum analyzer can be used for physical therapy.
