How to treat knee bone spurs and walking pain?

Pain from walking caused by knee bone spurs can be relieved by medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Bone spurs are bone hyperplasia caused by the wear of joint cartilage and the self-repair of bones, which are often accompanied by inflammation and pain.

1. Drug treatment: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium can relieve inflammation and pain; joint cartilage protectors such as glucosamine sulfate help repair cartilage; local topical medications such as Voltaren ointment can relieve local discomfort.

2. Physical therapy: hot or cold compresses can relieve pain and swelling; ultrasonic therapy can promote local blood circulation; rehabilitation training such as knee flexion and extension exercises and straight leg raising exercises can enhance muscle strength and improve joint stability.

3. Surgical treatment: For severe cases, arthroscopic surgery can clean up diseased tissue within the joint; osteotomy can correct joint deformities; and artificial joint replacement is suitable for patients with severe joint injuries.

Pay attention to controlling your weight and reducing the burden on your knee joints; avoid standing or walking for long periods of time; choose low-impact exercises such as swimming and cycling; and add foods rich in calcium and vitamin D, such as milk and fish, to your diet to help maintain bone health. If the pain persists or worsens, seek medical attention and evaluate treatment options.
