How to prevent recurrence of perianal abscess

The key to preventing recurrence of perianal abscesses is to maintain good hygiene habits, diet and regular checkups. If you have recurring inflammation, please see a doctor immediately.

Perianal abscess is a purulent inflammation of the perianal tissue caused by bacterial infection. Common symptoms include swelling, pain and local fever. If the treatment is not thorough or the habit is bad, it may lead to repeated attacks and even other complications. Especially high-risk groups, such as those with long-term constipation, diarrhea or diabetes, need to be extra vigilant.

The first step to prevent recurrence is to keep the anal area clean. Daily warm water sitz baths can promote local blood circulation, relieve discomfort, and reduce bacterial growth. After going to the toilet, use a mild, non-irritating wet wipe to wipe the anal area clean, and avoid excessive force or the use of rough wipes. Constipation and diarrhea are also common causes. Maintain normal intestinal function through a high-fiber diet, drinking plenty of water, and regular bowel movements.

In order to reduce the recurrence rate, people who have suffered from perianal abscesses should have regular checkups every six months to one year. If there is persistent pain, itching or abnormal secretions, this may be a sign that the infection has not been completely cured and early intervention is needed. In daily life, avoid sitting for long periods of time and do more pelvic floor exercises to improve local blood circulation, which is especially important for people with a higher risk of recurrence.
