What is the difference between a breast cyst and a breast tumor?

Although breast cysts and breast tumors both occur in the breast, their properties are completely different and require evaluation and treatment depending on the situation.

Cysts are mostly benign, small sac-like structures formed by the accumulation of fluid in the breast, which are usually related to hormone fluctuations and cyclical changes; breast tumors may be abnormal cell proliferation, including benign fibroids, and may also develop into malignant tumors, with complex causes.

Cysts feel like soft, flexible grapes, while tumors may be hard and less mobile. Cysts tend to move with the menstrual cycle, while tumors are more constant. Cysts are often accompanied by breast tenderness, while tumors may be less painful. Be especially vigilant if there are asymmetric, irregular, fixed lumps or skin changes.

If a breast lump appears whose nature cannot be determined, please seek medical attention as soon as possible. The diagnosis can be confirmed through ultrasound, puncture and other examinations, and personalized treatment can be carried out. Regular breast screening should be conducted, and healthy living habits should be developed to reduce the burden on the breast.
