What is the cause of otogenic hydrocephalus?

Most patients with otogenic hydrocephalus will have obvious clinical symptoms, mainly including severe headache, dizziness, vertigo, vomiting, vision loss, diplopia, extraocular muscle paralysis, etc. It is recommended to treat these hydrocephalus symptoms immediately after they occur to control the condition and reduce harm.

1. Lateral sinus thromboembolism

In case of otogenic hydrocephalus, lateral sinus thrombosis should be considered first, because lateral sinus thrombosis can easily lead to cerebral venous congestion, edema, disease and health hazards.

2. Sigmoid sinus thrombophlebitis

Some patients experience symptoms of otocephalus, which may be related to sigmoid sinus thrombosis, because sigmoid sinus thrombosis can easily lead to obstruction of intracranial venous return and cause hydrocephalus.

3. Meningitis

Repeated attacks of meningitis can also damage the brain tissue and lead to otogenic hydrocephalus. In order to avoid the harm of this disease, we should pay special attention to meningitis, do a good job of symptomatic treatment, eliminate the harm, and ensure our own health.

4. Brain abscess

Brain abscess is mainly caused by lung infection or craniocerebral trauma, which can cause various discomforts, such as fever, fatigue, increased blood count, etc. If these symptoms are not treated in time after they appear, it may lead to worsening craniocerebral injury and cause hydrocephalus.

5. Intracranial infection

Otogenic hydrocephalus should also consider intracranial infection, because intracranial infection is prone to complications of meningitis and brain abscess. Once these diseases occur, they may cause arachnoid adhesion or aqueduct obstruction, leading to hydrocephalus and endangering health.

Regardless of the cause of otogenic hydrocephalus, you should choose the best treatment method according to your disease to eliminate the harm and restore your health. During the recovery process of otogenic hydrocephalus, you should closely observe your own condition. If you have symptoms of headache or worsening cognitive impairment, you must notify the doctor in time to handle the situation, control the disease and reduce the harm.
