Liver calcifications or intrahepatic bile duct stones are usually "traces" left by certain diseases or injuries. They usually need to be discovered through medical imaging and combined with specific symptoms to determine whether treatment is needed.

Liver calcifications are small spots of tissue calcification caused by inflammation, trauma or infection. They generally do not cause health problems and are similar to "scars" that have healed. Intrahepatic bile duct stones are stones formed by the deposition of calcium salts in cholesterol or bile in the bile duct, which may cause bile duct obstruction or inflammation, especially in the presence of jaundice, abdominal pain or fever, which requires attention.

For asymptomatic liver calcification, regular physical examinations and observations are usually sufficient, while for intrahepatic bile duct stones, attention should be paid to diet, reducing the intake of fat and high-cholesterol foods. If the stones cause discomfort, treatment with ultrasound, endoscopy, or surgery may be required. Maintaining moderate exercise and controlling weight can also help prevent the worsening of related symptoms.
