What is the cause of lumbar myofasciitis

Lumbar myofasciitis is usually caused by long-term poor posture, overuse of muscles or cold and humid environment. The pain can be relieved by hot compress, massage and moderate exercise. Lumbar myofasciitis is a common soft tissue inflammation, which is mainly manifested by chronic pain and stiffness in the lower back muscles. Its causes are complex and diverse.

1. Long-term poor posture is one of the common causes in modern life. Maintaining the same posture for a long time, such as sitting or standing for a long time, will cause excessive tension in the waist and back muscles, which will lead to inflammation. Improving sitting posture, using ergonomic chairs, and exercising regularly can effectively prevent it.

2. Overuse of muscles is usually related to repetitive labor or high-intensity exercise, such as carrying heavy objects or bending over frequently, which can cause continuous stress on muscles and fascia, leading to micro-injuries and inflammation. Proper rest, reduced workload, and strength training of core muscles can help relieve symptoms.

3. A cold and humid environment can easily lead to poor local blood circulation, resulting in insufficient nutrition supply to muscles and fascia, which in turn induces inflammation. Keeping warm, using heating equipment, and avoiding prolonged exposure to cold environments are key.

Treatments include applying heat to promote blood circulation, using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen to relieve pain, physical therapy such as ultrasound therapy and massage to relieve muscle tension, moderate exercise such as yoga or swimming to enhance muscle flexibility, and adding foods rich in vitamin D and calcium such as milk and fish to the diet to support bone health.

The treatment of lumbar myofasciitis focuses on eliminating the cause and relieving symptoms. Combining lifestyle adjustments with professional treatment can effectively improve the condition and prevent recurrence. Patients are advised to pay attention to their posture and keep warm in their daily lives, and seek medical attention in a timely manner to obtain personalized treatment plans when necessary.
