The early symptoms of heel spurs usually manifest as pain in the heel area, especially when getting up in the morning or starting to walk after sitting for a long time. The pain may gradually increase, and may also cause increased discomfort over time, which requires attention and timely treatment.

Bone spurs are actually a type of bone hyperplasia, a manifestation of the body's self-repair. Heel spurs usually occur at the bottom of the heel bone, due to long-term excessive pressure or inflammation, calcium deposition forms a bone protrusion. In the early days, people often feel a needle-like pain when they take their first step in the morning, and this pain usually eases after activity.

As bone spurs develop, if ignored for a long time, they may lead to long-term irritation or further inflammation of the plantar fascia, and the pain may become persistent. Some people also experience stiffness when walking or exercising, and may be accompanied by limited mobility. Although bone spurs themselves are bone hyperplasia and may not directly cause pain, compression or impact on surrounding soft tissues may be the main cause.

To alleviate the symptoms, you can try to choose shoes with cushioning design on the heels, or use insoles such as arch pads to help disperse the pressure on the feet. Avoid standing for too long to reduce local irritation. If the pain persists or is difficult to relieve, you should go to the hospital in time for a doctor to evaluate and develop a suitable treatment plan, which may include physical therapy, medication or even surgical intervention.
