How to prevent gallstones

The key to preventing gallstones is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and eating habits. The formation of gallstones is closely related to diet structure, weight management and daily habits. By adjusting your lifestyle, you can effectively reduce the risk of the disease.

Gallstones are hardened substances that form in the gallbladder. They are mainly composed of cholesterol, bile pigments or calcium salts. They are usually related to an imbalance of certain substances in the bile, such as too much cholesterol or poor bile excretion. Obesity, rapid weight loss, a long-term high-fat diet and a sedentary lifestyle are all considered to be important factors that induce gallstones.

Prevention of gallstones starts with diet. Try to reduce the intake of high-fat, high-cholesterol foods in your daily diet, such as fatty meat, fried foods, animal offal, etc., which can easily lead to elevated cholesterol levels. In addition, eat more foods rich in dietary fiber, such as vegetables, whole grains and fruits, which can promote intestinal peristalsis and help excrete excess cholesterol. At the same time, balanced protein intake is also important. You can choose high-quality protein sources such as fish, poultry, and beans. However, too strict dieting or rapid weight loss is harmful because the rapid decomposition of body fat increases the risk of gallstones.

Daily lifestyle should not be ignored either. Appropriate exercise not only helps maintain a normal weight, but also promotes normal contraction of the gallbladder and prevents bile accumulation. If you are sedentary for most of the day, you can try to increase your physical activity by standing at work, walking, etc. Regular eating can also help prevent gallstones, because fasting for too long may cause bile to concentrate and increase the risk of stones. Try to avoid staying up late, because irregular work and rest may disrupt metabolism and indirectly affect bile balance.

In daily life, if you experience symptoms such as right upper abdominal colic, radiating pain in the shoulder and back, or indigestion, it is recommended to consult a professional doctor and undergo relevant examinations in a timely manner. The symptoms of gallstones may not be obvious, but if you do not pay attention to them, they may cause serious problems such as cholecystitis and cholangitis. Early intervention is very important.
