Treatment of Mastitis Based on Syndrome Differentiation of Traditional Chinese Medicine

TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Mastitis:

When TCM treats mastitis, different treatment methods are given according to different stages of the disease:

1. Treatment of early mastitis

The main symptoms in the early stage are milk deposition and internal accumulation of heat and toxicity. The treatment principle is to detoxify, clear heat, promote lactation and reduce swelling.

Oral medicine: Decoction: can be added or subtracted: smallpox, burdock, radix trichosanthis, scutellaria, tangerine peel, gardenia, honeysuckle, bupleurum, forsythia, pangolin, fenugreek, loquat, qi stagnation, orange leaf, Sichuan; obviously heat gypsum, heavy use of scutellaria, frankincense, no medicine, red spoon.

External medication: Golden Cream, Jade Dew Cream, or Glauber's Salt Solution for external use, or breast treatment cream for external use, which is simple, convenient, and effective. In the early stage, pay attention to keeping the milk discharge smooth. Because if there is excess milk deposition, it is easy to worsen mastitis and cause greater harm to the patient.

2. Purulent Stage

There are two principles for the treatment of pus: one is to return milk: the other is to fully drain pus. Treatment: clear away heat and detoxify, detoxify pus, choose Sanjiedan 1 or pus plus or minus: Angelica, raw yellow, pangolin, Sichuan, horn thorn, wild chrysanthemum, dandelion, ground clove, scutellaria, honeysuckle, platycodon, raw licorice, charred hawthorn, charred malt.

Surgery: Radioactive incision and drainage, avoid damaging the breast network, areola, and nipple; if the breast abscess is small and shallow, needle puncture, breast treatment cream or Jinsan can be used; fire needle drainage can also be used, use a thick metal needle 4mm or a prism needle, the flame is red, quickly pierce the abscess. Then quickly pull it out.

3. Late stage of ulcer

This treatment method is to drain pus and remove toxins, and the decoction is Simiao Decoction with modifications: roasted Scutellaria baicalensis, Chinese angelica, honeysuckle, dandelion, wild chrysanthemum, and roasted licorice.

After incision and drainage of pus, use Ba Er Dan or Jiu Yi Dan to draw out pus and detoxify, and use medicine thread to drain. If the pus has been cleared, Sheng Ji San can be used to close the wound instead, and red ointment gauze can be applied externally; if there is pus bag, cotton pad method can be used to prevent pus retention; if breast sinus is formed, Wu Wu Dan can be twisted and inserted into the sinus to corrode the tube wall. After the pus disappears, Sheng Ji San can be used to promote the healing of the sinus.
