What causes breast cysts?

Breast cysts are mainly caused by changes in breast glands and hormone levels. They are a benign cystic lesion in the breast. In most cases, they have little impact on health, but you should still pay attention to possible changes in symptoms.

Breast cysts are usually local expansions of alveoli in breast tissue, forming fluid-filled cystic structures. This condition is often related to fluctuations in hormone levels such as estrogen and progesterone, and is more likely to occur under physiological conditions such as menstrual cycles, pregnancy or menopause when hormones fluctuate greatly. Breast hyperplasia and milk duct blockage may also induce the formation of cysts. Some women are sensitive to hormone levels, and their breast tissue is more easily stimulated. Cysts are like a "signal light" for abnormal breast tissue reactions to hormones.

Breast cysts generally appear as small lumps in one or more breasts that may feel smooth and movable, and are sometimes accompanied by pain or distension, especially before menstruation. If the cyst is large, it may feel soft like a grape. If there is too much fluid, the cyst may become firm and tight, and may even make the breast look partially swollen. Many women may also notice that the size of the cyst changes with the menstrual cycle, which is caused by fluctuations in hormone levels in the body.

In order to reduce the discomfort caused by breast cysts, it is recommended to start from several aspects. In daily life, you can choose to wear bras with better support to reduce the stimulation caused by breast vibration. At the same time, you can limit the intake of foods containing caffeine such as coffee, tea, and chocolate, because studies have shown that caffeine may aggravate breast pain. Pay attention to keeping a happy mood, avoid excessive anxiety and stress, and reduce fluctuations in hormone levels. If the cyst continues to grow or is accompanied by abnormal symptoms, you should consult a doctor in time to eliminate potential health risks.
