How to treat perianal abscess yourself

How to treat perianal abscess yourself

It is not recommended to treat perianal abscesses by yourself. You should seek medical attention as soon as possible, as it can easily lead to the spread of infection and other serious complications. Without professional debridement and treatment, or if the symptoms are ignored, it may cause problems such as anal fistula.

Perianal abscess refers to the formation of pus in the soft tissue around the anus due to infection. The cause is mostly caused by anal gland infection, intestinal bacterial invasion or trauma. In addition, it is closely related to physiological and environmental factors such as low immune function, long-term constipation or diarrhea. Its typical symptoms include local redness, swelling, heat and pain. In severe cases, it may be accompanied by fever and pus discharge when the abscess ruptures. If it is not treated in time, the abscess may spread or aggravate the infection, forming a complex lesion.

Medical intervention is the key to the treatment of perianal abscesses. Mild abscesses can be treated with antibiotics under the guidance of a doctor, such as cephalosporin antibiotics to control infection; moderate to severe abscesses require incision and drainage surgery to drain pus and eliminate the source of infection. Common anesthesia methods include local anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, etc.; those with recurrent attacks or complicated structural problems may need anal fistula repair to completely resolve the lesion. In addition to medical measures, for auxiliary treatment, patients are advised to eat a light diet and increase dietary fiber intake, such as whole grains and vegetables, to prevent constipation; sitz bath care can reduce local inflammatory discomfort, and warm potassium permanganate solution can be used for sitz baths 1-2 times a day. The water temperature should be kept comfortable but not too hot for about 10-15 minutes.

The body is everyone's capital. Don't delay the development of the disease by temporarily "treating it yourself". If similar symptoms occur, please seek professional medical help immediately. Pay attention to treatment and care to avoid worsening of the disease and restore a healthy life trajectory.
