How to deal with perianal abscess after pus discharge

After the perianal abscess begins to discharge pus, the wound needs to be cleaned immediately and medical attention should be sought as soon as possible for a clear diagnosis and treatment to prevent the spread of infection or the formation of a more serious anal fistula. This situation cannot be treated by oneself alone and must be combined with professional treatment and care.

Perianal abscess is a purulent inflammation caused by anal gland infection. Pus discharge indicates that the abscess has ruptured on its own or has been squeezed and ruptured. At this time, there may still be residual pus and inflammatory structures in the local wound surface. The wound must be thoroughly cleaned, the pus removed, and the local area kept dry. Ordinary water or saline flushing can be used for preliminary treatment, but it is best to use professional disinfectants (such as iodine tincture) for cleaning to reduce the risk of bacterial infection. If purulent discharge persists, or is accompanied by fever, pain and weight gain, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. The doctor may perform incision and drainage to completely drain the pus. If there are signs of anal fistula formation, surgical intervention (such as anal fistulectomy, thread hanging therapy, and incision) is usually unavoidable.

In daily care, it is particularly important to maintain local hygiene. Change underwear frequently, choose breathable clothes, and avoid hot and stuffy environments; take a sitz bath with warm salt water for 5-10 minutes every day to relieve symptoms and improve local blood circulation; eat fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, increase water intake, and avoid constipation that aggravates the course of the disease. At the same time, antibiotics should be used strictly according to the doctor's instructions after surgery, and analgesics (such as ibuprofen) and topical ointments (such as metronidazole gel) should be used as auxiliary treatments when necessary. Pus from perianal abscesses should not be taken lightly. Negligence may lead to long-term inflammation and recurrence, and even affect the quality of life.

After the onset of this disease, no matter how severe the symptoms are, it is recommended to seek help from a specialist as soon as possible. Only systematic treatment can ensure complete recovery and avoid recurrence. Every signal from the body deserves our attention and care.
