What is hepatic hemangioma? Hepatic hemangioma is a benign liver tumor caused by the proliferation of hepatic vascular endothelial cells or secondary vasodilation. Clinically, it can be divided into sclerosing hemangioma, hemangioendothelioma, hepatic capillary hemangioma and cavernous hemangioma. Among them, cavernous hemangioma is the most common. This disease is more common in women. People of any age can get sick, single or multiple. It can occur in the left or right lobe of the liver, and the tumor size is different. Due to the lack of special clinical manifestations of hepatic hemangioma, imaging examinations such as CT, B-ultrasound, and MRI are currently the main diagnostic methods for hepatic hemangioma. Signs and symptoms of hepatic hemangioma 1. Smaller hepatic hemangiomas usually have no obvious symptoms, while patients with larger hepatic hemangiomas may experience symptoms of swelling and pain in the liver area. 2. Smaller hemangiomas have no physical signs, but larger hemangiomas may cause a mass to be felt in the right upper abdomen and the liver to be enlarged. 3. Hemangiomas are mostly single, with a diameter of less than 4 cm. Hepatic hemangiomas are usually discovered accidentally during physical examinations. Their size, shape, and number are not fixed, and they are often congenital. About 40% of patients with hepatic hemangiomas have symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, liver enlargement, indigestion, and loss of appetite. Some Complications of Hepatic Hemangioma Hepatic hemangioma disease may also cause other complications. Common complications of hepatic hemangioma are mainly the following: 1. Rupture and bleeding of hepatic hemangioma: can cause acute abdomen or internal bleeding and shock symptoms. 2. Thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia: A small number of patients with hepatic hemangioma often suffer from coagulation disorder. 3. Hepatomegaly: When hepatic hemangioma grows to a certain size, it will cause hepatomegaly. 4. Liver cyst: About 10% of patients with hepatic hemangioma develop liver cyst. In daily life, patients with hepatic hemangioma should pay attention to proper nutrition, eat less fat, sweet, spicy food, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid drinking. If patients with hepatic hemangioma are found to be thin, fatigued, have abdominal masses and other discomforts, the best measures are: early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment to avoid harm to the body and life. |
