Effective treatment for gallstones

Effective treatment for gallstones

The effective treatment for gallstones depends mainly on the size and number of the stones and whether they cause symptoms. For gallstones that cause obvious symptoms or complications, prompt treatment is very important.

Gallstones are hard masses formed by the precipitation of cholesterol or bile pigments in bile. Their formation is closely related to factors such as high-fat diet, irregular eating, and obesity. Some gallstones may be asymptomatic for a long time, but once symptoms such as severe pain in the right upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, or fever appear, it may be cholecystitis or bile duct obstruction, which requires special vigilance.

Treatment methods include conservative treatment and surgical treatment. For asymptomatic gallstones, doctors usually recommend observation and dietary adjustments to reduce the intake of cholesterol and greasy foods. For gallstones with obvious symptoms or larger stones, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is currently the most commonly used surgical method, with less trauma and faster recovery. If surgery is not suitable, you can also choose drug dissolution or extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, but these methods are slow to take effect and have a risk of recurrence.

In terms of prevention and care, you should develop a habit of eating a light diet, controlling your weight, eating on time, and avoiding overeating. If you have been diagnosed with gallstones and the symptoms are obvious, you should see a doctor as soon as possible and follow the advice of a professional doctor to avoid delaying the disease and causing serious complications.
