The pain of perianal abscess varies from person to person, but in most cases it is moderate to severe. Some people describe this pain as "cutting flesh with a blunt knife", which is more obvious when sitting, defecating, or pressing on the abscess. The level of pain usually depends on the size, location, and degree of infection of the abscess, and in some cases it may even affect sleep and daily activities. Perianal abscess is a purulent lesion caused by infection of the glands around the anus. After the anal gland opening is infected, bacteria gather locally, causing inflammation and pus accumulation, eventually forming a small and swollen "pouch". This infection is more common in cases of long-term sitting, constipation, diarrhea or low immunity, and is often accompanied by symptoms such as fever, local redness, swelling and tenderness. Pain is the core manifestation of this disease. In the early stage, it may be just a slight distending pain, but as the abscess grows, the pain will also increase. If the abscess is located on the surface of the skin, the pain is usually more severe, and a hard lump can be felt, and sometimes the skin will become red and hot; the pain of a deep abscess is more manifested as dull pain inside the anus, which may be more severe during bowel movements. If the abscess compresses the nerves or spreads the infection, it may also cause other discomforts such as sciatica. In order to relieve pain and avoid worsening of the condition, several methods can be used for relief. For example, hot water sitz baths can promote blood circulation and reduce local swelling; pay attention to increasing dietary fiber intake and keeping bowel movements smooth to avoid severe pain during defecation. Moderate activities can reduce the pressure on the anus caused by long-term sitting. If the pain has reached an unbearable level, or if there is a high fever, the redness and swelling are expanding, it is recommended to seek medical help immediately so that pus can be drained in a scientific way and the risk of infection can be reduced. |
