Does everyone have gallstones?

Not everyone will have gallstones, but some people are more likely to develop gallstones as they age. Its formation is related to the precipitation of cholesterol, bile salts and calcium salts in the gallbladder. Common symptoms of gallstones include abdominal pain, jaundice, fever, etc., but many people do not have obvious discomfort in the early stages.

Diet, genetics, and physical condition all play a role in the development of gallstones. For example, a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet may increase cholesterol levels, which can promote stone formation. Obesity, rapid weight loss, and diabetes are also risk factors. Certain medications and a woman's physiological conditions, such as pregnancy and hormone use, can also affect the likelihood of gallstones.

If gallstones are present, treatment options depend on the size and number of the stones and the severity of the patient's symptoms. Some small, asymptomatic stones may not require treatment, but patients who experience symptoms such as pain may need medication or surgery. Ultrasound is a common test used to confirm the presence of gallstones.

In order to reduce the possibility of gallstones, it is recommended to pay attention to the diet structure, eat more fiber-rich foods, and reduce the intake of high-cholesterol foods. Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, and getting a health check-up are effective measures to prevent gallstones. If you feel unwell, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for professional advice.
