What to do after a burn

Appropriate treatment measures should be taken immediately after a burn to relieve pain and prevent infection. The most important thing is to quickly rinse the injured area under running cold water for about 10 to 20 minutes. This helps to reduce the temperature and reduce the degree of skin damage. Remember, never put ice cubes directly on the burn area, which may cause further tissue damage.

Next, gently cover the burned area with clean gauze or a sterile dressing to protect the skin and prevent infection. Avoid using cotton or other materials that may stick to the wound, as this will make it more difficult to clean the wound. For minor burns, commercially available burn creams or aloe vera gel can often relieve pain and promote healing.

When treating a burn, never puncture a blister. Blisters heal naturally as a way for the body to protect itself, and puncturing them can lead to infection. If a blister ruptures on its own, keep the wound clean and dry and cover it with a sterile dressing. If the burn is large or deep, especially if it involves the face, hands, or genital area, it is important to see a doctor immediately.

Watch your burn for a few days. If you notice any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, pus, or fever, seek medical help immediately. Staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet will help speed up your body's healing process.

In life, preventing burns is equally important. Be especially careful when using appliances such as water heaters and stoves, and try to keep children away from these dangerous sources. By raising safety awareness, you can effectively reduce the occurrence of burn accidents. I hope these suggestions can help you and allow you to deal with burns more calmly.
