Causes and treatment of tenosynovitis in children

In clinical practice, tenosynovitis caused by congenital developmental reasons in children is called congenital stenosing tenosynovitis, which often occurs in the thumb of children. It can cause compression of the flexor tendon in the thumb, resulting in limited thumb movement and a popping sensation during movement. Children need to be sent to the orthopedic clinic of a regular hospital for examination in time. After a clear diagnosis, they need to be hospitalized for surgical treatment. It is necessary to perform incision exploration and sheath cutting and release surgery for stenosing tenosynovitis, and perform passive functional exercises on the affected limb after surgery to prevent adhesion between the tendon and the tendon sheath after surgery, which may cause poor surgical results. At the same time, corresponding symptomatic treatments such as infection prevention are required after surgery.

Treatment of tenosynovitis

For early-stage tenosynovitis or mild tenosynovitis, conservative treatment is mainly adopted first. Some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs and anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be used for conditioning. At the same time, hot compresses, physical therapy, massage and other methods can also be used. At the same time, activities should be restricted, and rest should be maintained for at least three weeks, and the affected area should be fixed with a brace. At the same time, closed treatment therapy can also be adopted, and hormone drugs can be injected into the local pain point to achieve a certain anti-inflammatory effect. Active treatment and preventive measures should be taken to avoid the recurrence of this disease. If the disease recurs repeatedly, a tendon sheath cutting operation is required.

What medicine is used for tenosynovitis

Early treatment of tenosynovitis is generally symptomatic treatment, using anti-inflammatory analgesics and oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for symptomatic treatment. You can also use Chinese medicine for promoting blood circulation and reducing swelling, or apply and wash Chinese medicine externally. If the pain is severe, you can use closed treatment. Closed treatment mainly uses anesthetic analgesics and hormone drugs to reduce inflammation, achieve the effect of anti-inflammatory and analgesic, and you can also take painkillers appropriately. Usually, you should pay attention to keeping warm, avoid local pressure, improve immunity, do more reverse exercises, and avoid high-frequency activities.
