What to do if pregnant women have hemorrhoids

What should pregnant women do if they have hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are more common in pregnant women because the body replenishes nutrition after pregnancy, weight gain is rapid, activity is small, and the gastrointestinal compression of the fetus can lead to increased abdominal pressure and induce the occurrence of hemorrhoids.

1. Diet adjustment

Pregnant women with hemorrhoids can eat more fruits and vegetables such as spinach, fungus, apples, bananas, etc., because these foods are rich in cellulose and can play a role in moistening the intestines and promoting bowel movements. If hemorrhoid patients have difficulty defecating, they can also eat some sesame, honey, walnut kernels and other foods to avoid aggravating hemorrhoids.

2. Sitz bath fumigation

1. Chinese medicine sitz bath

Pregnant women should not take medicine casually after getting hemorrhoids. At this time, you can choose the method of Chinese medicine bath fumigation. Because it is an external medicine, it has little effect on the fetus. The common Chinese medicine bathing method is to use Chinese medicine decoctions such as rhubarb, scutellaria, sophora flavescens, and phellodendron to fumigate; you can also use Chinese medicine soups such as peppers, wormwood leaves, figs, sophora japonica, cypress leaves, and purslane to fumigate. It is recommended to do it once a day for about 20 minutes each time, which has a certain effect on relieving hemorrhoids.

2. Potassium permanganate sitz bath

Pregnant women with hemorrhoids can also take a sitz bath with potassium permanganate solution and warm water at about 40 degrees. Adhering to this method of sitz bath can have an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

3. Warm salt water bath

Patients with hemorrhoids can also take a bath with warm salt water, which also has certain bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. When taking a bath, be sure to avoid squeezing the abdomen to avoid hurting the fetus.

3. Massage Therapy

Pregnant women suffering from hemorrhoids can also use massage to relieve symptoms. The specific method is to cover the anus with a hot towel after each bowel movement, and then massage the anus. You can massage clockwise or counterclockwise for about 15 minutes to improve local blood circulation and relieve hemorrhoids.

4. Exercise

Pregnant women suffering from hemorrhoids can insist on doing anal lifting exercises, which can also help relieve hemorrhoids. It is recommended to do anal lifting exercises three times a day, 30 times each time.
