What are the treatments for secondary flat feet in adults?

Secondary flatfoot is a common foot disease that causes trouble to more adults and harms foot health. The disease is mainly characterized by abnormal gait, ankle pain and swelling, and in severe cases, it may be accompanied by peroneal muscle pain or stiffness.

1. General treatment

For patients with mild secondary flat feet, non-surgical treatment can be used. During activities, attention should be paid to actively correcting foot balance, performing foot training, strengthening the tibial anterior muscle strength, and correcting discomfort such as foot eversion. When walking, patients should choose comfortable shoes, especially wide heels, and the inner side of the sole should be kept straight.

2. Drug treatment

Clinically, there is no specific treatment for secondary flat feet. Patients can take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs orally according to the doctor's advice. After taking the medicine, it can have an analgesic effect and improve discomfort such as plantar pain. Commonly used drugs in clinical practice include nimesulide, aspirin, etc.

3. Surgical treatment

Surgery is suitable for patients with severe secondary flat feet, and surgical treatment can improve the symptoms of foot discomfort. However, considering the different severity of the patient's condition, the surgical measures selected are also different. For example, bone surgery can reliably correct flat feet, but it can also significantly improve the condition.

4. Nursing treatment

Patients with secondary flat feet should control their weight during the recovery process and avoid being overweight, so as not to put too much pressure on the ankles and affect the recovery of foot health. We should pay attention to more rest, especially after exercise or walking.

Based on the above knowledge, we have learned four treatment methods for secondary flat feet. This disease is not only harmful to the health of the feet, but also affects the normal walking of the feet and the daily life of the patient. After the disease occurs, the treatment time should not be delayed. The patient should not bear weight during the recovery period, and remember not to do strenuous exercise to avoid increasing the burden on the feet.
