OEM massage chairs: from supplier quote to production acceptance

Set a verifiable OEM specification, approve a reference sample and decide exactly what evidence is required before releasing a shipment.

Updated

Send suppliers the same specification

List destination market, expected usage, order volumes, seat size, roller mechanism and travel, upholstery, electrical configuration, branding and carton requirements. Ask for itemized tooling, samples, minimum quantities per version, lead times and spares. Ask which processes the supplier performs and which it outsources. Compare each quote against the same revision of the specification.

Sign off on a reference sample

Record the model code, approved component list, controller and firmware revision, trim swatches, labels, carton drawings and photos. Have both parties retain a signed sample record. Agree in writing which substitutions require fresh approval. Request a production-intent unit to verify the final controls and translated manual together.

Match compliance evidence to the shipped model

Ask for the nameplate image and applicable reports or declarations for the final electrical and branded configuration. Verify the manufacturer and model identifiers on each document against the delivered unit. For EU sales under your own name or brand, check the manufacturer responsibilities explained by the European Commission before you approve labels. European Commission guidance

Use a pilot run to expose assembly issues

Agree which units to select across the pilot lot. Verify recline and return, remote controls, roller travel, airbags, and any specified heating functions against written limits. Check seams, trim fit, accessory counts and packing photos. Have qualified personnel perform required safety tests using the applicable procedures, and capture results by serial number.

Agree on inspection and defect rules

Describe specific failures and the severity assigned to each. Decide which checks apply to every unit and which can be sampled. For acceptance sampling, define the lot, standard and edition, sample selection, sample size and accept or reject criteria before production. Agree on the action for a failed lot, including rework and reinspection. ASQ acceptance sampling guidance

Tie shipment release to documented evidence

Request an inspection report, serial-to-carton list, final packing list and closure of corrective actions. Approve release in writing after reviewing these records against the purchase order. Agree on warranty start, replacement part availability and who handles labor and freight if a unit fails after delivery.
