Causes of Breast Cysts

Causes of Breast Cysts

Breast cysts are usually related to fluctuations in hormone levels in women, especially changes in estrogen. This condition is mostly benign, but if you experience obvious discomfort or suspicion, you should seek medical attention promptly.

Breast cysts are cystic structures formed by breast gland secretions or fluid in the tissue. They may vary in size and may be single or multiple. They often occur in the breast tissue of women of childbearing age. Changes in hormone levels, especially the effects of estrogen and progesterone during the menstrual cycle, can stimulate the breast alveoli or milk ducts, which may form cysts. Local blockage of breast tissue, fibroid lesions, etc. can also be triggers.

Some women experience breast tenderness before their period, and some larger cysts may even be felt by touch, similar to the feeling of pressing a small water ball. However, most breast cysts have no symptoms and feel soft when palpated. Many are discovered accidentally through color Doppler ultrasound examinations. This condition is not equivalent to a breast tumor, but if you have similar symptoms, you still need to be careful to check to avoid missing other potential diseases.

For breast cysts, you should maintain a regular lifestyle, avoid excessive intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods, control stress, and promote the balance of estrogen levels. If you experience persistent pain, enlarged cysts, or significant worsening of symptoms within a short period of time, you should go to the hospital for detailed examination and treatment. The doctor may take biopsy, puncture and fluid extraction, or surgery according to the situation. Regular breast self-examination and annual physical examinations are also very important, which can help detect problems early and intervene in time.
