What are the symptoms of mixed hemorrhoids?

The main symptoms of mixed hemorrhoids include bloody stools, prolapse of tumors, foreign body sensation in the anus, and pain. If obvious discomfort occurs or symptoms worsen, you should seek medical evaluation promptly.

Mixed hemorrhoids are a disease in which both internal and external hemorrhoids occur together. Blood in the stool is the most common early symptom, usually manifested as bright red blood attached to the surface of the stool, dripping blood, or spurting blood during defecation. As the disease progresses, the tumor may prolapse, that is, the hemorrhoids can be felt at the anus. Mild prolapse may be able to return to the anus on its own in the early stages, but after frequent recurrences, the hemorrhoids may not be able to return and need to be manually repositioned. Patients often also feel discomfort in the anal area, such as a foreign body sensation, a feeling of heaviness, and even affect daily activities. In severe cases, it may be accompanied by severe pain, especially when inflammation, thrombosis, or incarceration occurs. Increased secretions may cause itching around the anus, and in severe cases may induce infection or ulcers.

In daily life, we should pay attention to adjusting bad habits, avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time, and heavy physical labor. We can increase the intake of high-fiber foods such as vegetables and grains to promote regular bowel movements and reduce local pressure. When symptoms are mild, you can try a warm water sitz bath to relieve discomfort. Medications such as hemorrhoid suppositories and hemorrhoid creams can help reduce inflammation and pain. Patients with severe symptoms or for whom medication is ineffective may require surgical treatment. Surgical methods include traditional hemorrhoidectomy, stapled hemorrhoidal circumcision (PPH), and laser surgery. Choose the appropriate method according to your condition. If you experience bowel control or other serious problems, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible.
