There are several surgical methods for gallstones

The surgical methods for gallstones mainly include laparoscopic cholecystectomy, open cholecystectomy and percutaneous gallbladder drainage. It is crucial to choose the appropriate surgical method according to the severity of the disease and personal physical condition.

Gallstones are a common digestive disease that refers to the presence of solid crystals in the gallbladder or bile ducts. This condition may cause symptoms such as pain in the right upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, and even fever. The symptoms of different patients vary greatly: some people may be asymptomatic for a long time and only discover stones during physical examinations; while others may experience severe pain or cholecystitis due to stones blocking the bile duct. The need for surgery usually depends on the severity of symptoms, the size of the stones, and the presence of complications.

Specifically, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is currently the most common surgical method. This minimally invasive surgery removes the gallbladder through several small incisions. It has little trauma and quick recovery, and is very suitable for patients without serious complications. Open cholecystectomy is suitable for patients with more complicated conditions, such as gallbladder rupture, bile duct infection or multiple surgical histories. The operation is more thorough, but the recovery time is longer. For patients who cannot tolerate surgery, such as those with severe infections or the elderly and frail, percutaneous gallbladder drainage may be a temporary relief method to reduce symptoms by draining away bile, but this method is not a radical cure.

If you are diagnosed with gallstones and have frequent symptoms or complications, it is recommended that you communicate with a professional doctor as soon as possible to evaluate the treatment plan that is suitable for you. At the same time, you need to pay attention to dietary adjustment after surgery, avoid consuming high-fat and high-cholesterol foods, and have regular checkups to prevent other complications.
