What kind of people are prone to gallstones?

People who are prone to gallstones often have specific physical characteristics such as high-fat diets, sedentary lifestyles, or obesity. The formation of gallstones is closely related to genetics, dietary structure, and changes in the metabolic environment. If you find that you or your family members meet multiple high-risk factors, you need to pay special attention.

Gallstones are caused by the imbalance of cholesterol, bile salts and calcium in bile, which gradually precipitate and form stones. Common high-risk groups include obese people, women, especially middle-aged women, pregnant people, and people with a family history of gallstones. Long-term high-fat, high-cholesterol diets can also increase the cholesterol concentration in bile and accelerate the formation of stones. If you diet frequently or lose weight too quickly, it may also lead to bile secretion disorders, thereby increasing the risk of disease.

People with different physiques may show different symptoms when facing gallstones. Some may experience recurrent pain in the right upper abdomen, which is aggravated by eating greasy food, while others may feel nausea, indigestion or dull pain in the back. However, some people are in a state of "asymptomatic stones" for a long time, and are not discovered until the stones grow or cause inflammation. People who sit for a long time are also at a higher risk of stone formation because of the slow flow of bile.

It is recommended to reduce the risk of gallstones by adjusting your diet and lifestyle. Try to reduce the intake of high-fat, high-cholesterol foods, eat more fiber-rich vegetables and fruits, maintain a stable weight, and avoid overeating. Increasing daily activities and reducing sedentary time can help promote bile flow. Of course, if you suspect you have gallstones, you should get checked as soon as possible to confirm the diagnosis and take appropriate treatment.
