How is the effect of carotid aneurysm surgery and how to care for aneurysms

There are many ways to treat aneurysms, the main method is surgery. Many patients are concerned about the effect of surgery. So, what is the effect of carotid aneurysm surgery? How to care for aneurysms?

How effective is surgery for carotid aneurysm?

Carotid artery aneurysms generally require surgical resection. In the past, the purpose of preoperative carotid compression was to prevent the carotid artery from being blocked during massive bleeding during surgery. If the patient's carotid blood flow is suddenly interrupted, cerebral infarction may occur. The purpose of compression is to hope that the patient can adapt to the blockage on one side of the carotid artery and compensate for the blood supply through the Willis circle at the base of the skull. Generally, classic textbooks require compression for more than 20 minutes, and the patient has no obvious dizziness and other symptoms of cerebral ischemia. But even so, if there is massive bleeding, the risk of forced ligation of the carotid artery or carotid artery damage requiring supplemental molding is still high.

In recent years, we have used carotid artery shunts, which basically avoid long-term carotid artery occlusion, and there is no compression exercise before surgery, so the surgery is basically safe.

How to care for an aneurysm?

General care measures after bear aneurysm surgery should be:

1. Body position: When the patient is awake and the outlet tube is removed and returned to the ward, it is recommended to be in a semi-recumbent or 45-degree recumbent position.

2. Respiratory management: This is the focus of postoperative care. Strengthen nebulization, sit up and pat the back, stimulate the carina, and encourage expectoration. If necessary, nasal cannula or bronchoscope suction sputum, timely discharge respiratory secretions, and promote lung expansion. Depending on the condition, nasal cannula or mask should be used to supply oxygen.

3. Regarding the care of various drainage tubes, experts recommend that the drainage tubes should be properly fixed to prevent twisting, compression, folding and pulling.

4. When lying in bed, basic care should be done and the bed sheets should be kept clean and dry to better prevent bedsores. If the condition permits, the patient should be turned over, wiped, rinsed, and nails trimmed frequently to increase comfort.

The effect of treating aneurysms is closely related to the method chosen, and the treatment effect varies from patient to patient. It is best to go to a professional hospital for treatment.
